Term One - CAMP - notice

Year 5 and 6 Camp

4th February 2010

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Our camp is during Week 7, Term 1, 2010 at Long Bay. Rooms 1, 2 and 3 will attend camp from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th March. Rooms 4, 5 and 6 will be at camp from Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th March. This means that the whole group will spend the day together on Wednesday.

We will be sleeping at Vaughan Park, which is situated above MERC. They will be providing the meals throughout our time at camp.  Our activities will be organised and supervised by the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education Recreation Centre (MERC).

We are going to be doing mostly water based activities at MERC in order to make the most of the venue:  Raft Building, Dinghy Games, Snorkelling, Archery and either Kayaking, Abseiling or Stack’em high.  These activities are ones that are unable to be provided in the class/school environment.

We require nine extra adult helpers per group, who will sleep in a communal environment with the children. Both groups need a combination of men and women.

During the day activities, we do not require any extra adults for supervision as MERC supply enough qualified instructors for all the activities.

Please return the form below by next Wednesday 11th February. Could you indicate if you are interested in staying with your child’s class for the three days. Please understand that we will try to place supervising adults with their own child, however, this can not be guaranteed. You are welcome to join us at Long Bay during the day, but you will need to bring your own lunch.

The cost of the camp is $195 per child. This needs to be paid to the school by Monday 1st March 2010.

Please be aware that important medical and consent forms will be sent out in Week 2, 2010. These MUST be returned to the class teacher either before or with your payment.  This will allow us to make provision for any medical or dietary needs.

If you have any queries and concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your class teacher.

Yours sincerely,

Delwyn Taylor

Team Leader
