  •          Talking about the books you are reading with them
  •          Getting them to write as many words as they can in 10 minutes
  •          Recognizing and writing high frequency words

Library/ICT

The students will use ICT for a variety of purposes. This term students will use their Library session to research for inquiry. We will be browsing for and selecting books every Wednesday afternoon.

Lunchtime activities: There will be art for the juniors in room 19 at 1 o’clock on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Parent Help

We would appreciate help in our classrooms regularly. If you are able to give any time, please see your child’s teacher to find out what help is needed. It could be anything from creating displays to sharpening pencils to working with a small group of children.

Parent Information Meeting

Year 1-4 Junior School parent meeting will be held on:

Thursday March 10th at 6:30pm in the Auditorium.

This is an opportunity for you to come and hear about our reporting system under the National standards and the expected curriculum levels for your child as they progress through their early years at school. The goal setting interviews which are on Thursday 24th March will also be explained. An opportunity to meet your child’s teacher will be organized for the end of the meeting.

Extra curricular activities.

Organised sports and games are offered on a regular basis during lunchtime. These are run by our sports monitors under the guidance of a sports teacher. Please encourage your child to participate in these activities.

READING BOOKS

We are very fortunate to have wonderful reading material for the children at this school.  Parents please support us by ensuring your child remembers to:

  •          Bring their book bag to school every day.
  •          Read daily.
  •          Carry Library books in book bags in school bag only.
  •          Take care of books as each book costs approximately $6.00 - $7.00.

Please see Mrs Neighbour in room 12 if you can help return reading books to the resource room. We will need to show you what to do so we need someone who can make a commitment for the term.

REMINDERS

·         Thank you to parents who ensure their children are settled and in their classes by 8.50am.

·         Parents waiting for children at the end of the day are reminded to allow teachers to conclude their programme with the minimum amount of disruption, so please wait away from classrooms and cloak bays.

·         Could you please provide tissues for your child’s class if you are able.
