Welcome to Pohutukawa Team. 

Pohutukawa team is comprised of New Entrants and Year 1 classes. Currently there are 4 classes in this area.

This year our school wide focus is 'journeys' 

In Maths we are learning about addition and subtraction using fingers, number lines, abacus, counters and tens frames and all about numbers in our environment.

During Reading time we are learning new high frequency words and how to use clues writers give us in their work to decode new words. Talk to your child about the ways we can work out what an unknown word says. Explaining to you helps them to reinforce what they are learning at reading time.
