What has happened

Y7/8 Norwest Netball: Netball was a fantastic day for our four Y7/8 Girls’ and Boys’ Netball teams.  All four teams displayed outstanding sportsmanship, high skill levels and sound knowledge of the rules.  Both girls’ teams narrowly missed out on a top four placing in very tough competitions.  The Year 7 Boys team placed 4th overall and huge congratulations to the Year 8 Boys for winning the Y8 tournament for two years on the trot.  An excellent day by shared all.

Y7/8 Boys Inter Zone soccer results. , The victorious Norwest Hobsonville soccer team competed in a very tough Auckland Inter Zone Soccer Tournament held at Riversdale Reserve, Avondale.  The level of soccer had increased dramatically as we were playing the best schools in the wider Auckland area.  Hobsonville flew the Norwest Zone flag high by tying 0-0 with the eventual winners Remuera.  Unfortunately we lost the next two games but finished on a very high note, winning the final game 4-0 and Papatoetoe.  We placed 7th overall, an amazing result in a straight Year 8 section.  Alex Walker proved he was as good as anyone at that tournament and scored a double in the final game, with Liam Fearnley and James Hansen picking up a goal each.  Well done to all those boys, it was a great season where you put in a lot of hard work, I look forward to next season.  (Mr Hill)

Soap Box 2010: March the 27th was an awesome day shared by both racers and pit crew alike.   I felt so proud to be a part of a team with such great camaraderie.  We all supported each other and before the finals, our 4 drivers placed 7th, 13th, 19th and 32nd out of a total of 55 drivers.  This is an amazing result that came from some very dedicated and knowledgeable pit crew.  So thank you Meg, Shannon, James and Breanna for your selfless effort in the pit. Congratulations to all the drivers: Finley, Jack, Jamie and Liam.   We were all very proud of your results and an extra special congratulations to Liam Fearnley for placing in the top 10 and qualifying for the finals.  Liam placed 7th over all and was only one tenth of a second off the overall winner.  A great all round effort and result for Hobby.  Thank you to all the cool supporters that cheered all these determined people on for the duration of the day. Another extra special mention needs to go out to all the supportive parents of these 8 Soap Box Derby members, you made this all possible and I hope all your children find a way to express their thanks to you.  Mr Hill.
